Bio
Ms. Larissa Korkina, a native of Moscow, is a recipient of the Master of Music Degree studied at the State Academy of Music with the celebrated Russian teacher prof. Grigori Scherschevsky and Valery Minenkov. Since young age she continued to be inspired by the piano sound and the ability to express human passions. Ms. Korkina, was accepted at the prestigious school for gifted and talented students and had a privilege to study with prof. Gubaidulina.
A multi-faceted pianist, teacher, coach-accompanist, chamber musician, Ms. Korkina been appointed as a member of the music faculty at the State Academy of Music. She received numerous awards as the best accompanist in the regional competitions in Russia.
Since moving to Princeton in 1990, Ms. Korkina has enjoyed a successful career as a teacher, recitalist, chamber musician and performed numerous solo, chamber and accompanying concerts in the tri-state area, including special functions at the Garden State Center, McCarter Theater, Richardson Auditorium. She has collaborated with opera singers in recitals, opera productions, including Perry Ward, Maria Guleghina of the Metropolitan Opera, Hanli Stapela, Karen Clark and others. Ms. Korkina attended workshops, facilitated by the renowned Martin Katz. Her later engagements included the prestigious Matinee Musical Club at the Academy of Music of Philadelphia, Music Faculty Series at Westminster, The Friends of Music at Taplin Hall in Princeton and the Longwood Gardens Concert Series.
Ms. Korkina is a master faculty member at the The Lawrenceville School, Westminster Choir College, The Pennington School and she maintains active piano private studio in Princeton. Her students have received awards from The Piano Teachers Society of America, MTNA, Steinway Society, Cecilian Competition, Westminster Concerto Competition, Fine Arts Festival and others. As winners they performed at the Weil Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall of New York, Kimmel Center of Philadelphia. Ms. Korkina is a recipient of the Genia Robinor Award from the Piano Teachers Society, Distinguished Pedagogy Award from the Cecilian Music Club and many others. As a member of the Music Teachers National Association, she has adjudicated numerous local, state and regional piano auditions, competitions and festivals.
In 2007 Ms. Korkina has established the Memorial Scholarship in memory of her mother, Dr. Hannah Korkina for dedicated students who played with imagination and personality and impact the emotions of their listeners.
Ms. Korkina is the representative of the Trinity College London in Princeton. Using innovative personal approach, she promotes and foster students to take prestigious Trinity College London Exam.
